One of the most sumptuous small world maps
A spectacular double-hemisphere world map by Jean de Beaurain, engineer and geographer of the king, who studied under Pierre Moullart-Sanson.
The decoration includes two circular diagrams showing the lunar and solar systems, celestial and zodiacal scenes, as well as allegorical figures representing the four continents. It shows the latest discoveries of Tchirikow and de l’Isle north-west of America. Also published by Desnos in 1766. A nice copy with Original outline color.
